No. If you order your exact pant size, the belt will likely be too short. Because the belt sits over you clothing, the circumference is larger than your actual waist. We recommend choosing a size larger than our pants. For accurate measurements, please check the size guide on the product page.
Generally, for a size 34 pant, a belt size 36 or 38 would be suitable. However, this depends heavily on whether you wear your pants high on the waist or lower on the hips. Please do not guess. We strongly recommend referring to the size guide on the product page to find your exact fit before ordering.
No. If you order a Size 34 thinking it is 34 inches long total, it will be too short for you. “Size 34” means it will measure 34 inches from leather fold to the middle hole. The total length will be significantly longer (approx. 42 to 43 inches) to account for the buckle and the overhang.
It might be but it often varies. Different manufacturers follow different sizing standards. Some brands offer 5 holes, while others offer 7 or 9, which changes the fit and overall length significantly. We follow the most widely accepted belt measuring standard. Our belt sizes are true to our specific size guide. Please disregard sizes from other brands and review bur guide to ensure correct sizing
No, the size is not the total length. We measure belt size in inches from where the leather folds over the buckle excluding the buckle itself) to the center hole.
Note on total length: There is extra length past the holes (overhang). Most of our belts have approx. 6 inches of overhang, except the Angus (double keeper) belt, which has 7 inches
Yes, this is a great way to verify. Put on the pants you intend to wear with the belt. Thread a flexible tape measure through the belt loops and pull it to the tightness you prefer. This number is your “True Waist size. Match this number to our size guide.
This is the most accurate method. Take a belt you currently wear and lay it flat. Measure from the buckle fold (where the leather meets the buckle) to he hole you use the most. Compare this measurement in inches to our size chart to find you’ll perfect fit.
Note: If you are measuring a reversible belt, measure from the pin/needle end rather than the fold, as those buckles are longer.
Leather stretches over time. If your old belt has a smile” curve or is heavily worn, the size printed or he back may no longer be accurate. We recommend laying it as flat as possible and measuring with a tape measure from the buckle fold to the hole you use most, rather than relying on the printed number.
Note: If you are measuring a reversible belt, measure from the pin/needle end rather than the fold, as those buckles are longer.
If your measurement falls between sizes (for example, you measure 35 inches but we sell size 34 and 36), we always recommend sizing up. It is better to have a belt that is slightly long than one that is too short. If the belt has a screw-rivet closure, you car easily shorten it at home
Please check the width listed in the product description (e.g., 35mm or 40mm). Standard suit rousers usually fit up to 35mm, while jeans and casual pants can typically accommodate up to 40mm (1.5 inches). Please measure your belt loops to be sure.
Option 1: The “Rule of Thumb” (Traditional Belts) Add 4 inches to their pant size (e.g., for Size 34 pants, order a Size 38 belt). Pro Tip: Leave a note at checkout asking us to “punch 2 extra holes towards the buckle.” This acts as a safety net, allowing them to tighten the belt if it ends up being slightly too long.
Option 2: The “No-Guesswork” Gift (Ratchet Belts) Eliminate the guessing game entirely with our Ratchet Belt. It comes in one size that the recipient can easily trim to their exact fit at home. With over 40 sizing positions (adjustable in ¼ inch increments), it guarantees a perfect fit for any body shape.
